FOME FLEX Hydro Defence Primer is liquid polymer-bituminous product used for priming surfaces before applying various bituminous waterproofing coatings. It binds the surface and increases adhesion for other coatings.
FOME FLEX Hydro Defence Filler is paste-like polymer-bituminous product designed to fill cavities, scratches and holes before waterproofing. The filler is thick, so it fills bigger gaps without flowing down even on vertical surfaces.
FOME FLEX Hydro Defence Mastic is liquid polymer-bituminous coating. It’s the main product in the system for creating seamless waterproofing coatings, which are flexible and resistant to UV. It protects surfaces from rain and moisture after only 2 hours.
FOME FLEX Hydro Defence Glue-Mastic is asphalt-rubber compound with consistency of paste used for bonding PS and EXP thermal insulation boards to the surface. Also, can be used for waterproofing on vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Key Advantages
FOME FLEX Hydro Defence products are designed for reliable and long-lasting waterproofing performance. The system provides the following benefits:
- Quick drying – Primer dries in only 20 minutes, Mastic dries in 2 hours and Filler creates film which can be covered with Mastic also after only 2 hours. All products are rain resistant after mentioned times.
- The products are solvent-free and environmentally friendly – the products are designed for outdoor application, but can be used indoors too.
- High performance – forms a durable waterproof coating for roofs, foundations, terraces and other vertical and horizontal surfaces.
- High UV resistance – the mastic has increased resistance to UV rays. This ensures that the coating is long-lasting.
- Can be applied on slightly moist substrates – but it should not be applied on wet surfaces or during rainfall.
- Compatible with bituminous, mineral substrates and Styrofoam – it does not dissolve Styrofoam and can be used on various surfaces.
Application Areas
- Foundation waterproofing
- Flat roof seamless waterproofing, maintenance and repair
- Terrace waterproofing
- Vertical and horizontal surfaces waterproofing
- Thermal insulation bonding
Application Process
Surface Preparation for Waterproofing
For any construction or renovation task, the proper surface preparation is essential. The surface must be clean – without dust or other small particles – and dry or lightly damp.
Primer Application for Optimal Adhesion
The primer should be applied to soak into the surface and bind it. This step ensures better adhesion and longevity of the waterproof coating.
Sealing Cracks and Other Imperfections with the Filler
The Hydro Defence Filler fills holes and scratches with a thick paste-like compound. It is highly elastic and reduces the chances of cracks appearing later if the surface has mild movement.
Waterproof Coating with Mastic
Two or three layers should be applied on the prepared surface as this creates a strong waterproof barrier that protects the foundation, walls, roofs or underfloor structures from moisture. It is recommended to apply those layers crosswise to ensure the best durability and adhesion.
Bonding Insulation on Waterproofed Layer
Thermal insulation has to be applied over the waterproofing layer to make certain that there is no heat loss in the building walls or foundation. The glue-mastic helps fix PS and XPS insulation boards to the surface. It can also bridge cracks in the base material up to 5 mm.
Clean Up After the Application
The whole Hydro Defence waterproofing product line is made free of solvents. Therefore, there is no need to use solvents for cleaning the tools after use. All tools with uncured residues can be cleaned with water and a sponge, also mechanically after curing.
