FOME FLEX HYDROPROTECT MEMBRANE With Fibers, 10 kg – is a ready-to-use, one-component, acrylic resin-based liquid waterproofing membrane for use under ceramic tiles in the wet areas indoors and outdoors. The membrane is intended for use in bathrooms, kitchens, showers, laundries, balconies, terraces and other wet areas before laying tiles. In order to achieve a reliable water-resistant coating, it is recommended to apply two or more cross layers of the membrane. The ceramic tiles can be laid after 24 hours.

The membrane is reinforced with fibre, quick-drying and ready for use. Once dry, it forms a seamless, elastic, water-resistant coating. It can be used on underfloor heating systems. The dried product is frost-resistant and therefore can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications (not during the cold season; use it at temperatures of no lower than +5 °C). It provides excellent adhesion to substrates.

The waterproofing membrane is solvent-free and plasticizer-free. The cured membrane protects the surface from the harmful effects of water, oil, grease, fungi and mould beneath tiled finishes.

Remarks / Restrictions:

Membrane cannot be used during rain or frost. Cannot be used as a topcoat. Drying time depends on type of substrate, temperature and humidity. The product is not intended for food-contact and medical applications. All given parameters are based on laboratory tests compliant with internal manufacturer’s standards and strongly depend on product hardening conditions.

 

The product complies with the requirements of EN 14891:2012 and EN 14891:2012/AC:2012, the European standard for liquid-applied waterproofing products used beneath ceramic tile installations. Compliance with this standard confirms adhesion performance, water impermeability, and long-term durability in wet areas.

FOME FLEX HYDROPROTECT MEMBRANE With Fibers creates a seamless and elastic waterproofing coating that protects building substrates from moisture penetration into the surfaces under ceramic tiles.

 

 

Surface preparation

The surface should be clean, smooth, dry, free of grease, mechanical damage and other particles that reduce adhesion. Substrate irregularities and defects larger than 5 mm. must be leveled. Prime the surface using FOME FLEX HYDROPROTECT Primer.

Application

Mix the product well before use, do not dilute. Apply the membrane in at least two layers with a brush, paint roller or steel spatula. When applying the first coat, dip FOME FLEX HYDROPROTECT tapes, corners or sleeves in corners, joints or plumbing inlets. Apply subsequent layers in a perpendicular pattern to the previous one after the previous one has dried. The drying time of one layer is about 2-4 hours. Lay the tiles after 24 hours from the application of the last layer. Low temperatures and lack of adequate air circulation prolong the drying time of the membrane. The work that has just been done should be protected from rain and frost. Clean the tools with water, after drying – mechanically.

Product is packaged in 1,5 kg , 5 kg , 10 kg and 15 kg buckets. Store up to 24 months from the production date indicated in original sealed packaging at +5 °C to +30 °C. Protect from frost and direct sunlight. Store and transport at a temperature of not less than +5 °C.
